Two Hands Lily's Garden Shiraz 2006
The 'two hands' at Two Hands are Michael Twelftree and Richard Mintz who formed the company in 1999 with the clear objective of making the best possible shiraz based wines from prized shiraz producing regions within Australia. Since the winery opened, Two Hands’ success has gone from strength to strength, with numerous accolades defining the culture of the organization. Two Hands wines were listed in the Wine Spectator Top 100 for the last five years with two listings in the top 10. Consistent 90+ reviews from Robert Parker Jr.'s Wine Advocate, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, James Halliday's Wine Companion, Wine Spectator and the UK Decanter magazine is further testament to the company's ability to capture the terroir of each vineyard and carefully nurture the characteristics of each parcel.
Lily’s garden is made from a selection of Two Hands finest Shiraz barrels from McLaren Vale. The grapes were crushed into and fermented in open top potters, with regular pump-overs twice daily to extract color and tannin. The grapes were then pressed and the wine was transferred to tank and then racked to barrel for oak maturation.
Wine Spectator
Shows some subtlety, sliding its juicy blackberry and plum fruit through a veil of fine-grained tannins, with pepper and mineral overtones. Has a deft sense of harmony and balance. Best from 2010 through 2016.

Wine Advocate
The 2006 Shiraz Lily’s Garden comes from McLaren Vale. It reveals a complex aromatic array including balsam wood, spice box, violets, earth notes, pepper, blueberry, and blackberry. Layered and rich, it conceals enough ripe tannin to evolve for another 2-3 years. It has outstanding grip, depth, and a lengthy, pure finish. Drink it from 2011 to 2022.

Wine Enthusiast
It’s dark and inky in color and concentration, filled with superripe blackberry and plum fruit edged in chocolate and mint, but it seems to lack a bit of richness and texture on the midpalate despite its 15.2% alcohol. Ends with vanilla and tangy fruit and a touch of warmth. Drink now–2015.

Screw Cap
Wines sealed with a screw cap as opposed to a cork, which experts report protects and preserves wine more effectively than does a cork, while also eliminating the possibility of cork taint.
No Sulfites
All wines naturally contain some sulfites, however wines that contain less than 10 parts per million sulfites are not required to include "Contains Sulfites" on their labels.

Wine Spectator is a lifestyle magazine that focuses on wine and wine culture. It publishes 15 issues per year with content that includes news, articles, profiles, and general entertainment pieces. I still believe it is the simplest way to rate a wine, with its origins from grade school in the United States. A wine that I rate 90 points or more is outstanding (A), and worth buying. If I rate a wine 95 points or more (A+), it is a must buy.
