Elvio Cogno
Born to satisfy the curiosity of consumers keen to have a more immediate understanding of Barolo, the wine is bright garnet red in colour with orange tints. Pleasing and immediate, it offers scents of flowers and light, delicate spices. The bouquet is agreeably rounded, with just the right balance between pleasantness and elegance. The aftertaste is very harmonious with a long minerally aromatic finish. Serve with hearty meat dishes such as braised and roast beef, game, mature cheeses, or even-why not? - from first course to last.

Wow, what a wonderful wine, delivering rich notes of black fruit, vanilla, cherry and spice. But the aromas are in no way obvious. In fact, this is an ethereal and elegant wine that pays attention to the little details, like the light shadings of polished stone and violets that liven up the long finish. Drink after 2018.

Wine Spectator
Salty licorice notes complement the cherry, menthol and spice flavors in this linear red, which is tightly wound yet balanced, with a fine spicy finish. Should develop nicely in time. Best from 2014 through 2032. 400 cases imported.

Cogno's 2006 Barolo Cascina Nuova is a truly beautiful wine at this level. Red cherries, sweet, perfumed roses, mint and baking spices are just some of the nuances that emerge from this beautiful, traditionally made Barolo. The Cascina Nuova shows wonderful density in a weightless style that only Pinot Noir and Nebbiolo are capable of. This is a first-class effort from start to finish. With a little air, the Cascina Nuova is enjoyable even now. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2022.

Sustainable practices incorporate organic standards and may exceed them and include ecologically and socially sound business practices such as fair pay for farm workers and energy conservation.
Screw Cap
Wines sealed with a screw cap as opposed to a cork, which experts report protects and preserves wine more effectively than does a cork, while also eliminating the possibility of cork taint.
No Sulfites
All wines naturally contain some sulfites, however wines that contain less than 10 parts per million sulfites are not required to include "Contains Sulfites" on their labels.
