Kuleto

The 2002 blend is comprised of early-, mid- and late-ripening Cabernet Sauvignon combined with a dash of Sangiovese, which adds spice and acidity to the super-ripe Cabernet fruit. Aromas of black currant, mocha, anise and red raspberry co-mingle with notes of allspice, nutmeg and vanillin. This warm and sleek wine enters the mouth softly and spreads out with its viscosity and sweet tannins.

Kuleto muscles itself into the top ranks with wines like this well-made, serious Cabernet. It’s dry and balanced, and shows elegant restraint in how the blackberry and cassis fruit has been reined in but still allowed to express itself. Oak plays a supporting role. Drink now through 2008.
